math At Yarraman Oaks Primary, maths sessions are aligned with the Victorian curriculum and are organised around the three content strands of Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability.

The staff work collaboratively to ensure our students are taught in a way that is meaningful by giving them hands-on learning opportunities to solve real-life, open-ended problems where possible. Math groups, learning worms and investigations are tools that aid us in delivering a personalised learning approach that is differentiated to each student’s ability. This approach fosters the development of students who are self-motivated and confident mathematicians through the implementation of investigations as well as explicit formal instruction. Numeracy skills and knowledge are explicitly taught so that students can efficiently and creatively apply their understanding and reasoning in a variety of situations during investigations and inquiry.
